The "Is Short
Hair Right for Me?" Quiz
(Don't worry…everybody gets a passing grade!)
Are you a good candidate
for short hairstyles? A consultation with your stylist is an important
step in picking your new look, but before you get to the salon, there
are several questions you need to ask yourself first to determine if
you should keep your old long hair style, long layered hair style, or
medium hair style…or whether you "make the cut" for
short hairstyles.
Question
#1:
When you close your eyes, do you see yourself with a long hair style
or a short hair style? Rather than going for an extreme, super-short
do…perhaps a medium hair style is a better fit with your self-image.
Question
#2:
Are you cutting your hair to look like a movie star, "regain lost
youth," or put a little spark back in your marriage? Short hairstyles
change your "look"…not your life, so don't expect too
much from a visit to the salon.
Question
#3:
Do you handle change well? If you're stuck in a "fashion rut"
and clinging to the clothes and styles that you wore 10 years ago, changing
your long hair style to short hairstyles can be a "shock to the
system." Again, you may find it easier to adjust to a medium length
hair style
Question
#4:
Do you like to put your hair up? If you pick short hairstyles where
the cut is at or above the chin, you'll sacrifice a lot of styling options.
No ponytails or upswept chignons for you!
Question
#5:
Do you have a special event coming up in the near future? It's fun to
think about having a new hairstyle for a wedding, class reunion, or
other event, but selecting short hairstyles after a lifetime of long
hair can be a recipe for disaster. Instead of making such a major change,
consider a less drastic "makeover."
